Editing an Existing Page
1. If you are not already logged in, log in using your username and password.
2. Open the page that you want to edit, by clicking on the link from the navigation bar at the left of the screen, or by clicking on the “stories” button in the “Editors Only” menu at the top of the page, then clicking on the story you want to edit.
3. Click the “Edit this Page” button on the bottom of the page.
4. The page will reload and display a text box containing the text and HTML that make up that page The title of the page can be changed by changing the text in the “Title” textbox. This title is displayed at the top of the page when the page is viewed. The content of the page can be changed by changing text in the text box.
5. To edit the content click into the text box. Delete any unwanted preset text already within the text box. Type in your text, or paste in text from another source. (refer to the hints for help with cutting and pasting text)
6. Make any changes to the text by using the text toolbar at the top of the text box. e.g. font colour, alignment.(see the help instructions on using “the toolbar” , and “creating tables” below) Note that the toolbar only appears if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
7. Once the changes are complete, click on the “Post Changes” button underneath the editing text box.
Note:
• It may take a few seconds to upload the page after clicking on the “Post Changes” button.
• A “story” is another name for user-editable page.
• It is possible to create a page using an HTML editor, and then copying the relevant HTML code from the file it generates into the text box. ( If help is needed contact the Living Heritage Coordinator)
• It is also possible to copy text from a word processing package into the textbox. Note, that special characters (like bullet points) may not appear correctly (refer to the hints for help with cutting and pasting text)
